Terms & Conditions
Last updated 19 October 2026
Quiet Dictation is operated by Gregory Michael Daynes, trading as Quiet Dictation ("we", "us"), based in South Africa. When you use our website or software, or buy a licence, you are contracting with us.
1. Acceptance
By using quietdictation.com or the Quiet Dictation app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
2. The product
Quiet Dictation is desktop software for macOS and Windows laptops that turns your speech into text. Speech recognition runs on your own device; we do not receive your audio.
3. Your account and eligibility
You must be of legal age to form a contract, or have authority to bind the organisation you buy for. Keep any licence keys and account details confidential, and give us accurate information.
4. Licence
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Quiet Dictation for the plan you bought. You may not reverse engineer, resell, redistribute, or bypass technical limits of the software.
5. Acceptable use
- No unlawful use, fraud or spam.
- No infringement of anyone's intellectual property.
- No interference with our systems: no malware, probing, scraping or security testing without permission.
6. Intellectual property
We keep all rights in the software, documentation and the Quiet Dictation brand. The text you dictate is yours.
7. Payments, subscriptions and refunds
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, renewal, tax, cancellation and refund terms are set out in Paddle's Buyer Terms. Subscriptions renew automatically monthly or yearly until cancelled. See our Refund Policy.
8. Service level and warranties
We work hard to make Quiet Dictation reliable, but we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that transcriptions will always be accurate. To the fullest extent allowed by law, the software is provided "as is" without implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Check important text before relying on it.
9. Liability
Our total liability is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as lost profits, data or goodwill. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury where the law doesn't allow it.
10. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or end your access for material breach of these terms, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious policy violations. When access ends, your licence to use the software ends. Your dictated text stays on your device.
11. Changes and general
We may update these terms and will post the new version here. These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. Events beyond our reasonable control excuse delays in performance. You may not transfer these terms without our consent.
